How to find good diets that actually work

January 26, 2010 by

Finding good diets that actually work can take time. The effort spent on researching information on diets and whether or not they have been successful for others is definitely worth it. Some diets can help people lose weight quickly in the beginning. This is great motivation to keep going and keep losing weight.

A good diet will include information on nutrition, healthy weight loss, exercise and better eating habits. Look for a diet that includes all of these factors and then go through the steps outlined here to find a good diet that actually works.

First, begin by identifying how much weight you need to lose. Take your body height and build into consideration as you do this.

Second, decide how long you have to lose weight. It may be ideal to lose ten pounds fast and then take some time to lose the final fifteen. Losing too much weight too quickly is definitely not healthy. It is commonly known that anyone can lose approximately two pounds a week without compromising their health

Once the goals are set it is time to research diets plans. Watch out for fad diets. They may sound good but in all likelihood they will not work in the long run.

Try to find a diet that has nutritional support and recipies. These two things can often be the difference between success and failure. Also, choose a diet that understands how the body works and that different people need different things. This will increase the chance of long term weight loss.

Finally, choose a diet that makes sense to you and fits into your lifestyle. Don’t try to become a vegetarian if you love meat – the raw diet simply will not work for you. Choose a diet that works with you instead of against you. If it sounds too difficult then it will probably not work for you.

Once you have found a diet you need to follow it to see the pounds come off. Many people follow parts of a diet and ignore the aspects of it that do not appeal to them. This will simply not work. Not following a diet plan will certainly lead a dieter down the path to failure.

Finally, try to find a newsletter or weight loss forum to keep you informed and motivated. Getting regular advice and support is essential to success and to find good diets that actually work.

Protein Diets Plans and Protein Food

January 25, 2010 by

Protein is an extremely important part of all diet plans. A high protein diet is often recommended by bodybuilders and nutritionists to help efforts to build muscle and lose fat. High-protein, low-carbohydrate diets have been widely promoted in recent years as an effective approach to losing weight. These diets generally recommend dieters receive 30% to 50% of their total calories from protein. The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of protein according to U.S. government standards is 0.8 gram per kilogram (2.2 pounds) of ideal body weight for the adult. Some of these diets restrict healthful foods that provide essential nutrients and don’t provide the variety of foods needed to adequately meet nutritional needs. People on high-protein diets are consuming up to 34% of their total calories in the form of protein and up to 53% of total calories from fat.

Normally the body burns carbohydrates for fuel this is the main source of fuel for your brain, heart and many other organs. Protein is a vital nutrient, essential to your health. Some are high protein and emphasize foods like meat, eggs and cheese, which are rich in protein and saturated fat. Some high-protein diets de-emphasize high-carbohydrate, high-fiber plant foods. All diets are made up of calories. It is the building block of muscle. Protein is measured by the gram. Everything you eat and drink (besides obvious calorie-free things like water and celery, etc.) has calories in it. Proteins help replace and form new tissue, transports oxygen and nutrients in our blood and cells, regulates the balance of water and acids, and is needed to make antibodies. Protein malnutrition leads to the condition known as kwashiorkor.

Lack of protein can cause growth failure, loss of muscle mass, decreased immunity, weakening of the heart and respiratory system, and death. These foods help lower cholesterol when eaten as part of a nutritionally balanced diet. The anti-carb craze has everything to do with the recent resurgence in high-protein fad diets. Although protein is certainly an essential nutrient which plays many key roles in the way our bodies function, we do not need huge quantities of it. A healthy diet that includes a variety of foods and is rich in fresh fruits and vegetables along with regular physical activity can help most people manage and maintain weight loss for both cardiovascular health and appearance.

Fat Loss Diets – Tips for Dieting

Losing weight is not only helps to improve the way that you look, but also it is important to improving your health and quality of life. By reducing your body weight by 10% you will substantially reduce your chances of developing diabetes, heart disease, and even joint problems. For a woman that weighs 165 pounds a 10% weight reduction would only be about 16.5 pounds. This reduction will help you feel better about yourself, it will help you drop a dress size or two, and it will help you enjoy your life.

Why Most Diets Fail

Most fad diets fail because they create negative biological effects within your body. Starvation diets that reduce your daily caloric intake too much will actually cause you to hold onto fat and extra body mass by lowering your rate of metabolism and by triggering your body’s starvation defense mechanisms. Fad diets that reduce your food choices to only one or two food groups are also unhealthy, and they will ultimately fail because they starve your body by not providing it with adequate amounts of nutrients, minerals, and fats that it needs to operate and function properly. As your body runs out of the stored elements it will trigger a craving that will encourage you to eat foods that have the nutrients that it needs. These craving, unfortunately, will kill you diet as once you start eating the restricted foods you won’t be able to stop.

In addition to nutritional concerns that fad diets pose, unbalanced diets also impact the way that you feel, and your ability to function normally. With too few calories, and too few nutrients your moods will swing to the dark side, and people will not want to be around you. This could negatively impact your ability to function at work, to socialize with others, or to take part in your family’s activities.

Set Reasonable Goals

Now that you know that unbalanced diets, staving yourself, fad diets, and diet pills are not the answer to your weight issues, you are in a good place to start eating in a way that will promote a healthy weight, and that will still allow you to eat like a real person. When deciding to lose weight you should sit down with yourself and truly identify weight loss and fitness goals that are reasonable for you to achieve, remembering that not everyone is designed to be 110 pounds and a size 2. Your body type, bone structure and size, and your muscle mass will determine what weight you should be. As you start losing weight you will start to get an idea of what weight range you feel the most comfortable at, and most importantly which weight ranges that you feel the healthiest at.

Set short-term and long-term weight loss goals.

For example, week one I will lose 2-3 pounds (short-term goal), and by July 31 I want to be 20 pounds lighter (long-term goal.) This brings me to another important point, don’ expect to lose 10 pounds overnight. The diets that claim that they can give you this kind of result are either lying to you, or they are putting your health at risk. The liquid diets that have become popular in the last several years that promise if you drink only their juice diet drink for two days that you will lose 10 pounds, are basically providing you with a 48 hour fast. While you may lose 5 to 10 pounds with this diet, it will be from the loss of water weight and the cleansing of the contents from your bowel and intestines, and not actually from losing fat.

Losing Weight Safely

Safe and healthy eating programs should provide you with an average weight loss of about 1-2 pounds per week. Weight loss at his rate is more likely to stay off, than weight that is lost at faster rates through unhealthy methods. You should also be prepared to hit weight loss plateaus. These plateau periods will be frustrating and they may make you want to give up, but don’t. These phases are times that your body needs to readjust to your new body composition and metabolism rates. You may notice that during this time that even though you won’t lose any pounds, you will see your body toning and firming.

Low Card Dieting|fat Loss Diets

Learn The Details Of The Idiot Proof Diet.

The whole world has gone “low fat” crazy — and most people think that if they just begin eating low fat foods then their bodies will have less fat too.

Sounds logical right?

Wrong.

You see, the problem with this type of thinking is that there is no “direct” relationship between fat calories eaten and fat tissue on a person’s body.

The Zone Diet is based on the theory of 40/30/30 — which means that 40% of calories should be from carbs, 30% from protein, and 30% from fats. This program was created by Barry Sears……and a well known book was published about this diet called “Enter the Zone”.

So when a dieter eats a meal which is “40/30/30″ — then it’s referred to as a “Zone Favorable” meal.

The author of the Zone Program (Barry Sears) claims that if you make all meals “Zone Favorable” then your body will have reduced insulin levels, which will lead to weight loss and fat burning.

However, we do not agree that eating a 40/30/30 meal (Zone Favorable meal) is the best way to reduce insulin levels.

Also, another thing to remember is that it can be difficult to follow the Zone Diet because everything must be calculated “precisely” at every meal (and most people will find such calculations very tedious, especially people with busy schedules).

We believe that average dieters may find this program too difficult to use for any serious length of time, and therefore we do not like the Zone Diet program.

The makers of this diet have even created their own line of Zone Favorable Food products (such as Zone bars, Zone Shakes, and other Zone products for dieters).

But of course, such products cost much more than “average food” costs……so many average dieters may discover that buying such products is not economical for them. This is yet one more reason why we do not recommend using this program.

The Jenny Craig weight loss program is a bit more traditional and simple in our opinion, though it probably costs a bit too much for the average person (it’s also a little too basic in its principles, in our opinion).

This entire diet seems to be based on eating fewer calories while exercising more, which is a very old concept. With Jenny Craig you get assigned your own weight loss expert (nutrition counselor) who will help to keep you motivated each week so that you’ll remain on the diet.

This is possible because Jenny Craig has many weight loss centers throughout the world, and if dieters live close to a facility then they can choose to meet with a nutrition consultant “in person”. Or, if dieters do not live near a facility then they can choose to meet with their nutrition counselor “via telephone” each week.

…But regardless of whether you meet with your nutrition consultant via telephone or in person — you’ll still have to buy Jenny Craig’s expensive “pre-packaged” meals. That’s the downside of this diet program in our opinion, since you have to continually buy Jenny’s pre-packaged meals (which are fairly expensive when compared to normal meals).

From everything we’ve seen these pre-packaged meals seem to be lower calorie versions of normal meals, so they don’t seem to be anything too earth shattering or special (from our perspective).

So with Jenny Craig you’ll basically be eating fewer calories (smaller portioned meals) and exercising more while meeting weekly with a nutrition counselor (who will keep you motivated so that you don’t quit the diet).

Plus, don’t forget that you’ll be required to buy Jenny Craig’s pre-packaged food every single week — which can be expensive over time.

So overall we don’t think that it’s smart to use the Jenny Craig program, since any diet that requires you to continually spend money for “special meals” is not a good choice in our opinion.

In fact, it’s not based on “low calories” either, and it’s also not based on “low carbs” (since low carb diets don’t work very well)… The Idiot Proof Diet is a brand new type of diet never seen before, so give it a try and watch the pounds come off fast.

Starvation Diets Never Work

January 24, 2010 by

It’s normal to want to lose weight fast. Unfortunately many people think that starving themselves with some crazy fad diet is the best way to reach their goal of losing weight quickly, it’s not. Starvation diets never work in the long run and they actually don’t even work that well in the short run either.

When you use some crazy starvation diet like “The Grapefruit Diet,” “The 1200 Calorie Diet,” or “The Cabbage Soup Diet” you actually do your body far more harm than good. You will not lose weight nearly as fast you might think you would and even worse, the weight that you do lose will mostly be water and muscle. When you go off the diet (which you will eventually, of course) you will gain back all of the weight you lost except as fat instead of muscle!

Why is that? Because when you go on an extremely low calorie starvation diet your body’s metabolism actually slows down so much that your body goes into “survival mode” and holds onto your body’s fat as long as it possibly can. Instead your body will actually start to burn your precious muscle for energy. This is the worst thing that can happen for your long term fitness. Each pound of muscle on your body burns 50 calories a day at rest compared to just 2 calories a day for a pound of fat. That’s why very muscular people can eat so much food without getting fat.

It’s totally essential for real long lasting weight loss and also for short term fast weight loss that you keep your metabolism up and running as fast as possible. If you want to speed up your weight loss you should try adding exercise (in particular strength training) to your dieting regimen instead of trying to starve the fat off. Exercise can actually speed up your metabolism along with burning calories.

While it’s understandable to think that if you just starve yourself that’s the fastest way to lose weight, it’s not really true. Worst of all it will make it all the more harder for you to lose weight in the future!

It’s also an awful thing to do nutritionally. When you starve yourself you make it harder for your body to get the vitamins and nutrients that it needs to work at it’s best.

Instead of a starvation diet, choose a sensible diet that focuses on the good foods you should be eating instead of just eating very little. If you eat the right foods you will not be so tempted to over eat in the first place. It is sweet dessert foods and starchy snack foods that make most people overeat. Avoid them as much as you can. Save them for occasional treats instead of as a daily part of your life.

Fat Burning Furnace – Best Fat Loss Diets

I don’t believe that there is a clear cut ideal fat burning diet that works for everyone. I do believe that there are several fat burning diets that are very effective. What if there was a way to get a head start and drop 15-20 pounds quickly before choosing any of the fat burning diets on the market?

Your Body is Capable of Losing 15-20 Pounds Over a Two Week Period

Crash dieting when done over a short period of time is very effective. It isn’t something that is recommended over the long term, but it the fastest way to burn fat over the short term. You can eat very low calories for 14 days or so before your body adapts and your metabolism slows down. Again…this is just something that must be done no longer than 14 days.

Crash Dieting is Even More Effective than Cardio Exercise at Burning Fat

This was a hard one for me to swallow, since I’m an exercise junkie. Let me explain how this works. If you body burns 2,000 calories a day and you only ingest 600 calories, you just created a 1,400 calorie deficit. You would have to jog on a treadmill for 2 1/2 hours to burn the same amount of calories. It is simply easier to create a large calorie deficit from your diet than it is from exercise. Note…I am just talking about the short term here, in the long term cardio is very effective at burning body fat.

A Radical and Simple Crash Diet to Follow Before Your Fat Burning Diet

1) You only allow yourself to ingest 600-800 calories each day for two weeks

2) Make sure and take multivitamins during this time

3) Avoid fat and sugars

4) Eat about 100-150 Grams of Protein

5) Drink as much Green Tea and Coffee as you want

6) Drink plenty of water

Burn More Fat in Two Weeks Than Most People Do All
Year

I normally do this every year, right around the middle of May. I keep myself around 8% body fat most of the year, but this allows me to get super-ripped for summer. I usually eat nothing but a skinless chicken breast in the morning and one more for lunch. When I get hungry throughout the day, I’ll consume a large amount of Green Tea. For dinner I will chop up a bit of cabbage and chicken and mix with chicken broth to make a soup (chicken broth is very low calorie and tastes great). I also add cilantro, jalapenos, onions, and celery to this soup. This is all I eat for two weeks.
It isn’t fancy, but I’m telling you…your body will visually get leaner each and every day. It is very rewarding to see such fast results!

This Will Work for Any Of the Fat Burning Diets on the Market!

Diets For Quick Weight Loss

The number one cause for a person being over weight is due to the diet they consume. The human body only requires a certain amount of nutrients and vitamins a day that includes carbohydrates, protein, fat and calories. To remain healthy it is important that you only consume the amount you need for your body to function properly.

Acai diet is not a substitute for your regular meal. You must take your regular meal with as much nutrients as you can. If you believe that taking Acai juice will be a substitute for your breakfast your meal; you might cause more harm to your nutrition level than any good.

The best diet for losing weight is a healthy one, in other words one that is balanced and provides what the body needs. A diet that helps provide the energy for workouts can often make the difference in a regimen that really make you lose weight. Taking acai supplements helps with the provision of the energy needed.

If you think that losing weight in an instant is easy, think again. Instant weight loss is non-existent. Surely you can lose weight almost instantaneously but it isn’t the most suitable weight loss strategy because it compromises your muscle mass.

The idea behind weight loss is changing the way your body processes fats and your foods. The body really is a machine, so if it is not running efficiently, you aren’t going to be getting the best results. Like with your car, you have to give it the right fuel in order to run correctly.

You need to understand that your body has many systems that must work in harmony for you to stay healthy. Food is the fuel that keeps all your systems functional. In other words, food is the nutrition that keeps your body going. Cut out certain types of fuel and boy! Will your body be in serious trouble!

It is important to remember that foods for fast weight loss are chosen and eaten as a response to the biological need of hunger and not for indulging in a habit of over-eating. It is also a good idea to choose a sensible diet that conforms to the standards necessary for weight loss, but also appeals to the taste buds.

What is also important for the fast weight loss diet is to let your body get enough rest and sleep. You need at least 8-9 hours sleep so as to let your body recuperate after having started to get such different food and having changed its metabolism to such large extent.

It is thought that some people might have a genetic predisposition to obesity. If you feel this is true of you, it could be that you don’t produce or respond to the relevant hormones in your body, so your hunger never feels satisfied. This doesn’t mean that you can’t lose weight, but it might mean you have to be clever about achieving your goal.

Eating what you like helps you stick to the program for longer because it’s not depriving like most diets. In addition, cycling your calories like this, by eating lean food one day and not-so-lean food the other can have a beneficial metabolic effect, actually helping you to lose weight faster.

The secret is to constantly move back and forth between a high pace and a slow pace. This up and down effort stimulates your fat burning metabolism and keeps it running stronger for the entire day giving you the quick fast weight loss you are after.
